The call was from Kyle Dubas, President and General Manager of the Penguins, who informed Yager of the trade that would send him to Winnipeg. “I was in the gym, just finishing up my workout when I saw I had a missed call from Kyle Dubas,” Yager recounted. “He told me I was being traded to Winnipeg, and it was a whirlwind of emotions from there. It’s been pretty crazy, but I’m genuinely excited about this new opportunity.”

He noted that Yager’s pride in joining a prairie team was evident during their initial conversations. “A kid from the prairies coming to play for a prairie team—there’s a lot of pride there,” Cheveldayoff observed. “Changing organizations is always a big adjustment, but we’re excited to have Brayden join us. Yager’s move comes after a standout season with the Moose Jaw Warriors, where he tallied a career-high 95 points in the regular season, including 30 goals and 65 assists.
