Dr. Umar Johnson Alleges Kamala Harris' Team Offered $10K for an Interview, Criticizes Steve Harvey
Dr. Umar Johnson recently made waves on social media with some bold claims and critiques regarding prominent figures and the upcoming 2024 presidential election. On August 15th, Johnson took to Instagram to express his frustrations and concerns, specifically targeting Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign team, as well as well-known celebrities like Steve Harvey and Rickey Smiley. His message was clear: the Black vote is not for sale.
Johnson revealed that Kamala Harris' team allegedly offered him $10,000 in exchange for an interview, a gesture he vehemently rejected. "Yes, we can do the interview, but keep your damn money," he stated firmly. For Johnson, this alleged offer underscored a larger issue: the commodification of the Black vote. He emphasized that the community should not be persuaded by financial incentives but should instead demand tangible benefits in exchange for political support.

In his video, Johnson didn't stop at Harris' campaign. He also called out celebrities like Rickey Smiley and Steve Harvey, accusing them of being paid to publicly support Harris. "The Black vote ain’t for sale no more," he declared. Johnson argued that these celebrities were using their platforms to sway the Black community in favor of Harris, not out of genuine belief in her policies, but because they had been financially incentivized to do so.
Johnson's critique of Rickey Smiley was particularly pointed. He expressed disappointment in Smiley, whom he accused of performing emotional appeals on the radio for Harris. Johnson's message to Smiley was clear: if you're going to cry for Kamala Harris, do it in private, not on public platforms where it could be seen as manipulative or disingenuous.
Steve Harvey also came under fire in Johnson's video. While he acknowledged his respect for both Harvey and Smiley, Johnson insisted that their support for Harris was motivated by money rather than conviction. "Can we please be honest?" he asked, challenging the authenticity of their endorsements.
