With a theme that embraced “anything goes,” the event encouraged participants to unleash their imagination, resulting in an unforgettable day of color and cheer.
From the moment the carnival got underway, it was clear that this was going to be a special occasion. One of the highlights of the carnival was the playful participation of Fishguard’s own Mayor, Cllr Billy Shaw, and Mayoress Sarah Shaw, who embraced the event’s spirit by dressing up as Shrek and Fiona. Their creative costumes were just one example of the many inventive outfits and floats on display. The “anything goes” theme allowed for a broad spectrum of ideas, from fantastical fairy tale characters to energetic musical performances.
Among the carnival's many attractions were performances by the Lowri Jones School of Dance and the Welsh Whisperer. These acts added a dynamic element to the festivities, delighting the crowd with their talent and energy. Meanwhile, the children’s Fancy Dress Competition brought smiles to faces as young participants showcased their own creative costumes.
The carnival field was a hub of activity, featuring a range of entertainment options for families. There were fairground rides, a bouncy castle, and an array of stalls offering games, refreshments, and the ever-popular BBQ organized by the Round Table. The atmosphere was one of joyous celebration, with the community coming together to enjoy the day’s festivities.
In addition to the entertainment, the carnival also had a competitive edge. The coveted £250 prize for the Best Float and the £100 prize for the Best Shop Front Window Display were hotly contested. A new category this year, the Best Carnival Procession Walking Group Competition, added another layer of excitement, allowing even more participants to showcase their creativity.
