Jon Abbott Joins Sportsnet as the New Voice of the Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames have announced a significant addition to their broadcast team, as veteran sportscaster Jon Abbott steps into the role of play-by-play commentator on Sportsnet. This marks an exciting new chapter for both Abbott and Flames fans, as his extensive experience and passion for hockey promise to bring a fresh and dynamic voice to the broadcasts.

Abbott’s journey to becoming the voice of the Flames is a full-circle moment. Growing up in Aylmer, Ontario, Abbott’s minor hockey team was named the Flames, a tribute to the financial support provided by the late Harley Hotchkiss, a former owner of the Calgary Flames. Hotchkiss, who hailed from the neighboring town of Tillsonburg, was known for his deep love of the game and commitment to community support. For Abbott, joining the Flames and Sportsnet family over 30 years later is not just a professional achievement, but a deeply personal one.
