Norwich City Secures Croatian Striker Ante Crnac in Exciting Transfer Deal
Norwich City has made a significant move in the transfer market by signing Croatian striker Ante Crnac from Polish club Raków CzÄ™stochowa. The deal, reportedly valued at £8.5 million plus add-ons, marks a notable addition to Norwich’s squad as they prepare for their upcoming Championship fixtures. Crnac, a highly-regarded 20-year-old talent, has committed to a four-year contract with an additional one-year option at Carrow Road.
The announcement came late on Thursday night, with Norwich City hopeful that Crnac will be available for their next match against Sheffield United. His arrival comes as a crucial reinforcement following the departure of Adam Idah, who recently moved to Scottish giants Celtic in a similar deal worth £8.5 million.
Crnac's signing is part of Norwich's broader strategy to bolster their attacking options. He is the fifth new face at the club this summer, joining the ranks alongside Jose Cordoba, Ben Chrisene, Callum Doyle, and Amankwah Forson. The Croatian striker’s versatility and goal-scoring abilities were key factors in Norwich's decision to pursue him, especially after a prospective move for Rennes forward Bergot Yildirim fell through due to a medical issue.

Speaking to the club's official website, Crnac expressed his enthusiasm for the move. “I cannot describe how excited I am and I can't wait to get on the pitch and play," Crnac said. He highlighted his appreciation for Norwich's vision for his development and his eagerness to contribute to the team. "I followed the Premier League and watched some Championship games; I know it's a very competitive league. I thrive when I can operate between the lines, have the ball at my feet, and create goal-scoring opportunities."
City’s Sporting Director Ben Knapper shared his excitement about Crnac’s potential, describing him as an “exciting talent” who will need time to adjust but is expected to make a significant impact both in the short and long term. Knapper emphasized that Crnac's arrival, coupled with his ability to play across the forward line, will strengthen Norwich’s attacking options alongside current squad members like Josh Sargent, Ashley Barnes, and young Ken Aboh.
Crnac began his career with Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Slaven Belupo, where he scored 11 goals in 56 appearances. His performances in the Polish Ekstraklasa caught the attention of several clubs, showcasing his all-around capabilities and potential.
Interestingly, Crnac will be the second Croatian to play for Norwich City, following Drazen Muzinic from the 1980s. In addition to this signing, Norwich City is also in advanced talks to bring Danish Under-19 international Oscar Schwartau to the club, having reportedly agreed on a £2.1 million deal with Brøndby.
This dynamic recruitment strategy reflects Norwich City's ambition to build a competitive squad capable of making a strong push in the Championship this season. Fans and analysts alike will be keenly watching to see how Crnac adapts and contributes to the team’s success in the upcoming fixtures.
