With the Games running from August 28 to September 8, the action is in full swing, and there’s much to look forward to in the quest for medals.
The British squad, comprising 215 athletes, is aiming to secure between 100 and 140 medals, a goal set by UK Sport. This ambitious target comes on the heels of a strong showing in Tokyo 2020, where GB finished second in the medal table with 124 medals, including 41 golds. Paris 2024 is set to be a showcase of grit, determination, and remarkable talent.
Among the standout events for today are several that feature British athletes with strong medal prospects. Alice Tai, who made headlines with her comeback after a series of injuries and surgeries, is the fastest in the world for the S8 100m backstroke. Her race is highly anticipated as she chases her first individual Paralympic gold. Similarly, Stephen Clegg, who earned bronze in Tokyo, is a leading contender in the S12 100m backstroke, having secured gold at the 2023 World Championships.
