Trump Returns to X Before Interview with Elon Musk

Former President Donald Trump made a notable return to social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, for the first time in nearly a year. This comes ahead of his much-anticipated interview with X’s owner and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, scheduled for later today.

On Monday, Trump’s activity on X included a video highlighting past statements made by Vice President Kamala Harris. The video features Harris advocating for progressive policies, such as opposing criminalization for undocumented immigrants, rethinking the role of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and criticizing the idea that increased police presence necessarily enhances safety. Harris’s remarks on progressive proposals like "Medicare for All" and the Green New Deal are also included, with the video concluding with a call to “Reject San Francisco Radical Kamala Harris.”

Additionally, Trump shared a two-and-a-half-minute video that revisits the August 2022 federal search of his Mar-a-Lago estate and his subsequent indictments by the Justice Department. This video amplifies Trump’s narrative of being a victim of "political persecution," a claim he frequently makes on the campaign trail. The voiceover in the video echoes Trump’s campaign rhetoric, asserting that efforts to undermine him are ultimately attacks on his supporters and their freedoms.

In a strategic move to build anticipation for his interview with Musk, Trump’s campaign also reposted a promotional message on X, declaring the interview would be “the interview of the century!” The last time Trump was active on X was in August 2023, when he posted a mugshot following his arrest in the Georgia election subversion case. Since then, he has primarily used his own platform, Truth Social.

Further adding to the mix, Trump posted a video featuring him walking through a hallway while reciting familiar campaign lines. These include pledges to dismantle the "deep state," expel "warmongers," and combat "fake news media," culminating with a call to "Make America SAFE again" and "Make America GREAT Again." He also posed a rhetorical question to his audience: “Are you better off now than you were when I was president?”

Trump’s return to X and his strategic posting underscore his ongoing engagement in the political arena and his intent to leverage social media for shaping public discourse, especially as he prepares for a high-profile conversation with Elon Musk.
