Football legend and Hollywood star Vinnie Jones has taken on a new role that's far from the glitz of the big screen and football pitch. Just ahead of the transfer deadline day, Jones has signed on with Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for their crucial 'Every Minute Matters' campaign. Jones, renowned for his tough persona on the field and his roles in films, is lending his star power to this life-saving cause. At 59 years old, Jones has a history of supporting the British Heart Foundation, having previously featured in their Hands-Only CPR advert in 2012. His involvement in this campaign underlines the importance of CPR training, emphasizing how a quick response can drastically increase chances of survival during cardiac emergencies.
In his statement, Jones highlighted the significance of this new venture, saying, "Out of all my roles on and off the pitch, teaming up with Sky Bet and the BHF might just be one of my most important roles. It quite literally could be lifesaving." He stressed the simplicity and accessibility of learning CPR through the BHF’s online RevivR tool, which only takes 15 minutes to complete.
The campaign has already made notable strides since its launch earlier this year. Tom Lockyer, who experienced a cardiac arrest during a match in December 2023 and survived thanks to CPR and defibrillation, praised the public’s response to the initiative. Lockyer's own experience underscores the campaign’s urgency, as each minute without CPR reduces the chance of survival by up to 10 percent.
