Altuve Ejected After Dramatic Shoeless Appeal in Petco Park Showdown

Despite Altuve’s passionate argument and manager Joe Espada's fervent appeals, the call stood. Frustrated and desperate, Altuve decided to take a dramatic stand. He removed his left shoe and sock, limping over to Miller to demonstrate where the ball had struck him. His intent was clear: to visually prove that he was hit, hoping it would sway the umpire’s decision. However, this act of defiance only led to Altuve being promptly ejected from the game.
As Altuve made his way back to the dugout, manager Espada expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that the umpires missed a crucial call. “You have to see the ball once it hits the foot, the flight of the ball, what the ball does,” Espada said. “There were four umpires on the field, and they missed that play.” The ejection marked Altuve’s third career dismissal and his second of the season, having been previously ejected in a similar situation in June against the Mets.
Altuve’s frustration was palpable. “It was a foul ball,” he said. “It’s obvious. I just wanted my at-bat against Suarez.
