Australia has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in their T20I series against Scotland, securing a commanding 70-run victory in the second match. Held at The Grange in Edinburgh, the game saw Australia deliver a near-flawless performance, setting a target of 197, which Scotland struggled to meet, folding for just 126.

The highlight of the match was Josh Inglis, whose scintillating century set a new record for the fastest T20I ton by an Australian. Inglis smashed 103 off just 49 balls, propelling Australia to a dominant total of 196 for 4 in their 20 overs. Despite some tricky conditions early on, with overcast skies and the ball moving around, Inglis and Cameron Green (36 off 29 balls) built a solid partnership that anchored the Australian innings. Inglis' boundary-laden knock included 7 fours and 7 sixes, showcasing his aggressive intent and flawless shot selection. Green's supporting role was crucial in steadying Australia after they lost two early wickets, including the dismissal of Travis Head for a duck.

Scotland's bowlers, led by Brad Currie, who claimed 3 wickets for 37 runs, showed moments of promise, particularly in the early overs. However, the brilliance of Inglis left them chasing leather for much of the game. Currie’s spell stood out, but he lacked enough support to consistently trouble the in-form Australian batsmen.

In reply, Scotland’s chase faltered from the outset. Apart from Brandon McMullen, who top-scored with a valiant 59, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to find rhythm against Australia’s varied bowling attack. Marcus Stoinis (4-23) and Cameron Green (2-16) were particularly effective, breaking the back of Scotland's chase with regular wickets. McMullen fought hard, playing some impressive shots, but his dismissal in the 13th over, thanks to a sharp catch by Tim David, ended any realistic hope of a Scottish fightback.

Australia’s dominance in both the bowling and batting departments left Scotland overwhelmed. Skipper Richie Berrington expressed disappointment but acknowledged improvements, especially with the ball. Australia, led by captain Mitch Marsh, will now be looking to complete a 3-0 series whitewash.
