Cowboys Dominate Browns: Superstars Shine in Impressive Victory
CLEVELAND – If NFL games were a bingo card, the Dallas Cowboys and their fans would have had a full house after their performance against the Cleveland Browns. This game was a showcase of the Cowboys' star power, with many of the team’s key players delivering standout performances that filled every box on the checklist.
The newly renamed Huntington Bank Field, just a stone’s throw from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, was the perfect stage for the Cowboys’ superstars to shine. Dak Prescott, fresh off securing the largest contract in NFL history, played a solid game, particularly in the first half. His throws were sharp, and he made key passes on the run, leading the offense down the field efficiently. While the game wasn’t without its blemishes, Prescott’s performance, combined with the defensive prowess of Mike Zimmer’s unit, set the tone.

Zimmer’s defense was aggressive from the get-go, putting constant pressure on Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who spent the game running for his life. Watson was sacked six times, though it felt like he narrowly escaped several more. Micah Parsons, in particular, was a menace, adding a sack to his tally but feeling he should have had more. The Cowboys’ defense not only excelled in pressuring Watson but also stifled the Browns’ running game, a crucial task given Cleveland's ground game prowess. The Browns managed only one first down in the first half, struggling to move the chains effectively.
The offensive line, despite not being flawless, managed to contain Browns' star Myles Garrett. Garrett did manage to get a sack and force a fumble, but his impact was limited. The Cowboys provided solid support to both tackles and rolled Prescott out of the pocket to mitigate Garrett’s influence. The addition of Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe showed promise, and while the running game could improve, it was effective enough when needed. Ezekiel Elliott’s return to the end zone was a highlight, especially after a crucial penalty on Garrett shifted the ball closer to the goal line, allowing Zeke to score.
Returning from injury, Trevon Diggs had a stellar performance, securing an interception in the fourth quarter and generally maintaining a low profile, which is a good sign for a cornerback. Rookie Caelen Carson also made a commendable start. Brandon Aubrey, continuing his impressive form from last season, was reliable as always, and special teams standout KaVontae Turpin broke free for a 60-yard punt return touchdown, effectively sealing the game.
The Cowboys’ defense was a key highlight, with Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence combining for several sacks and constant pressure on Watson. Linebackers Eric Kendricks and DeMarvion Overshown also had noteworthy performances. The defense’s ability to frustrate and neutralize Watson, alongside an impressive special teams display, ensured the Cowboys controlled the game from start to finish.
Overall, this game was a complete team effort showcasing the Cowboys' strengths across all phases. With the offense, defense, and special teams all performing at a high level, Dallas made a resounding statement. The dominant win, reminiscent of last year’s Week 1 blowout against the Giants, showed that the Cowboys are ready to contend this season, with standout performances from both seasoned stars and new additions.
