FSU Fans Call for Change as DJ Uiagalelei's Struggles Continue
Florida State football fans are growing increasingly frustrated with their team’s performance, particularly with starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The frustration reached a boiling point during the Seminoles' recent game against Boston College, when Uiagalelei’s struggles culminated in a crucial interception early in the second half. This mistake led to a resounding chorus of "We want Brock" from the FSU faithful, as fans expressed their desire to see backup quarterback Brock Glenn take the field.
Uiagalelei, who transferred to Florida State after stints at Clemson and Oregon State, has had a rocky start to the season. His interception on a fourth-down conversion attempt was particularly costly, as Boston College's Max Tucker returned it 58 yards to the Florida State 7-yard line. Just two plays later, Boston College scored a touchdown, extending their lead to 21-6. This moment seemed to crystallize the frustration of FSU fans, who began chanting for Glenn, a redshirt freshman with limited experience but growing appeal.

Brock Glenn, a 6-foot-2, three-star recruit from FSU's 2023 class, may not have the extensive experience of Uiagalelei, but fans are intrigued by his potential. Last season, Glenn appeared in five games, completing 19 of 51 passes for 229 yards and two interceptions. Although his stats may not be stellar, his presence on the field represents a possible shift in direction that many fans are eager to see.
Uiagalelei's performance has been underwhelming, to say the least. At the time of his interception, he had completed fewer than 50% of his passes, accumulating just over 100 yards and a single interception. While he did manage to rebound with a solid drive later in the game, completing 3-of-4 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown, the damage had already been done. The fans' calls for a quarterback change grew louder, fueled by Uiagalelei's inconsistency and the team’s overall struggles on offense.
Even ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky weighed in on the situation, suggesting that FSU might benefit from a change at the quarterback position. His comments echoed the sentiments of many fans who believe that Glenn, despite his inexperience, could provide a much-needed spark for the Seminoles.
Head coach Mike Norvell, however, has been reluctant to make a change. After the game, Norvell emphasized the need to focus on improving the team's overall performance, rather than singling out individual players. He acknowledged the offense's struggles but maintained that the coaching staff's priority is to put the team in the best position to succeed.
As the Seminoles prepare for their next game, the pressure is mounting on Uiagalelei to step up his game. With a bye week ahead, the team has a brief window to regroup and address the issues that have plagued them so far this season. Whether or not Norvell will heed the fans’ calls for Brock Glenn remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the quarterback situation at Florida State is far from settled, and the upcoming games will be crucial in determining the direction of the Seminoles' season.
