Kick Streamers Face Backlash for Harassment at TwitchCon 2024

The recent TwitchCon event was marred by controversy, thanks to the antics of some Kick streamers who caused discomfort and even chaos during the convention. Held twice a year, TwitchCon is a significant event in the streaming community, where content creators and fans come together to meet, collaborate, and celebrate the world of live streaming. However, this year, certain streamers from rival platform Kick are facing serious criticism for their inappropriate behavior.

One of the most talked-about incidents involved Kick streamer DBR666, who not only made Twitch star Nmplol uncomfortable but also sparked a lot of negative attention. During their interaction, DBR666 went beyond a simple handshake and instead decided to lick Nmplol’s nipple through his shirt. The bizarre and invasive action left Nmplol visibly shocked and understandably upset. Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated event. DBR666 also confronted another high-profile creator, xQc, yelling inappropriate remarks and forcing him to flee the scene.

Things escalated further when another Kick streamer, Shoovy, had to file a police report after a fellow content creator pushed him into a moving train following an argument. Shockingly, this entire altercation was streamed live, adding to the list of controversies that unfolded during the event. And if that wasn’t enough, yet another Kick streamer, DariusIRL, got into a fistfight with Twitch streamer Erobb after accusing him of cheating on his partner.

The behavior of these Kick streamers has drawn widespread criticism, with many people in the streaming community condemning their actions. Twitch streamer Tectone didn’t hold back when discussing the issue, calling out the unnecessary harassment and inappropriate conduct exhibited by the Kick streamers. He noted how creators like ExtraEmily even had to physically flee from these individuals to avoid potentially dangerous encounters.

Kick, a newer streaming platform, has been notorious for its loose guidelines and edgier content. Launched in early 2023, the platform quickly gained attention by poaching major Twitch creators like Amouranth and xQc. Despite its rapid rise, Kick’s lenient rules have attracted criticism, with some streamers engaging in reckless behavior that crosses ethical and moral boundaries.

The behavior at TwitchCon 2024 has ignited discussions about the responsibility of streaming platforms to regulate their content and creators. While Kick continues to grow, incidents like these highlight the importance of balancing freedom of expression with the safety and well-being of others within the community. With such public backlash, it remains to be seen how Kick will respond to the criticisms and whether they’ll take steps to address the growing concerns about the platform’s culture.
