King Charles Graces Historic Braemar Gathering in Highlands
This past Saturday, the scenic Braemar Gathering in the Cairngorms National Park became even more extraordinary as it welcomed King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The annual Highland Games, held on the first Saturday of September, have been a cherished tradition since 1832, with royal patronage dating back to Queen Victoria’s first visit in 1848. This year’s event held particular significance, marking the King’s second appearance as the reigning monarch, a poignant moment as it coincides with the eve of the second anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.
King Charles and Queen Camilla were spotted in high spirits, engaging with the vibrant festivities. The King, dressed in a tartan jacket and a kilt in navy, red, and green, was accompanied by the Queen, who dazzled in a navy dress adorned with a feather pattern and a matching hat. The couple appeared relaxed and cheerful as they interacted with attendees and took in the traditional games from a prominent vantage point near their summer retreat at Balmoral.
