MrBeast, KSI, and Logan Paul Face Backlash Over New "Lunchly" Product
Recently, a debate has sparked among some of the biggest names in the YouTube world, including MrBeast, KSI, and Logan Paul, with fellow YouTuber DanTDM at the center of the controversy. The drama unfolded after the trio launched "Lunchly," a pre-packaged meal intended to rival Kraft Heinz's popular Lunchables. The meals include a bottle of Prime, the sports drink created by KSI and Logan Paul, a Feastables chocolate bar from MrBeast, and some variation of food like nachos or pizza. While the launch was intended to appeal to their young fan base, it has faced heavy criticism, particularly from YouTubers like DanTDM.
DanTDM publicly voiced concerns about YouTubers promoting unhealthy, processed foods to children, which is where the controversy picked up steam. His main criticism was that this move is yet another example of how YouTube culture has shifted from being about small, personal creators to becoming a platform for corporate branding and money-making ventures. Other content creators like iBallisticSquid and Rosanna Pansino also joined the criticism, pointing out that promoting processed foods seems to prioritize profit over the health and well-being of their audience, which is mostly made up of impressionable young fans.

On the flip side, MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI didn't stay silent. They defended their product, with MrBeast arguing that Lunchly actually contains fewer calories and more electrolytes compared to traditional Lunchables. Logan Paul, on the other hand, defended the entrepreneurial drive behind the venture, stating that YouTubers have the right to expand their brands. However, this defense was met with skepticism by many, as commentators questioned why these influential YouTubers would promote something that still qualifies as junk food.
This isn't the first time YouTube has seen ideological clashes between its top creators. DanTDM’s criticism seems to resonate with those who feel the platform has lost its original charm, becoming more about business and less about creativity. Many long-time viewers miss the days when YouTube was more focused on authentic, scrappy content instead of large-scale entrepreneurial endeavors. This shift, they believe, is epitomized by the very business models creators like MrBeast and Logan Paul have embraced.
While these YouTubers continue to defend their business ventures, it's clear the debate has struck a chord with both fellow creators and viewers alike. The ethical questions raised by this controversy are a reflection of the changing landscape of YouTube and its influence on a younger generation. Whether this will lead to any meaningful change remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—the conversation around YouTube’s shift from content to commerce is far from over.
