O'Malley and Dvalishvili Engage in a Sarcastic Showdown Ahead of UFC 306
The buzz surrounding UFC 306 just got a whole lot more interesting. At the pre-fight press conference for the highly anticipated bantamweight title clash between Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili, the verbal sparring between the two fighters was nothing short of entertaining. O'Malley, who holds a 18-1 MMA record and a 10-1 UFC record, and Dvalishvili, with a 17-4 MMA record and a 10-2 UFC record, have been trading barbs throughout their fight build-up. However, things took a more sarcastic turn during Thursday’s press conference, held in the parking lot of Sphere, the venue for Saturday’s pay-per-view event.
The exchange began when a reporter asked O'Malley if he was still interested in a boxing match against Gervonta Davis, hinting at a potential crossover bout. O’Malley responded, "Yeah, it depends on my performances. I’ve got to go out there and knock this dude out with my hands. I do that a few more times, that fight is inevitable." This comment was promptly met with a retort from Dvalishvili, who wasn’t having any of it. “Keep dreaming, keep dreaming,” Dvalishvili shot back. “Nobody knock me out yet. Nobody. Keep dreaming, Sean O’Malley. You don’t knock out ‘Chito’ Vera.”

O'Malley wasn’t going to let that slide without a comeback. He reminded Dvalishvili of his recent fight against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292, where O'Malley scored a knockout victory. “I did knock out Aljo though, didn’t I? Didn’t I?” O’Malley quipped. Dvalishvili quickly dismissed the win, calling it an “early stoppage” and suggesting that O'Malley was just “lucky.”
Taking the sarcasm up a notch, O'Malley played along with Dvalishvili’s notion of luck. “That was lucky as f*ck,” O’Malley said. “I keep getting lucky, it’s crazy. Every fight, I get lucky. Somehow, some way, I get lucky.” This playful banter continued with Dvalishvili challenging O'Malley to prove his knockout abilities against him, noting that he has only been finished once in his career and that was by submission.
The intensity and sarcasm of their exchange only heighten the anticipation for their fight. O'Malley, who is looking to defend his title for the second time at Noche UFC after a successful rematch against Marlon Vera at UFC 299, faces a tough test in Dvalishvili. The Georgian fighter has never been knocked out in his career and remains confident that he will emerge victorious, ready to claim the bantamweight title.
As the event approaches, fans are eagerly waiting to see if O'Malley’s “luck” will continue or if Dvalishvili will prove to be an insurmountable challenge. The clash between these two fighters promises to be one of the most exciting matchups in recent UFC history.
