Paige Spiranac Shares the Real Story Behind Her Unconventional Golf Outfits
Paige Spiranac, a social media sensation and former professional golfer, recently opened up about her unique golf attire, which has garnered significant attention. With over four million followers on Instagram, Spiranac has become known not just for her skills on the golf course but also for her bold, unconventional outfits. In an interview on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams, she revealed that her clothing choices stemmed from practicality rather than a deliberate attempt to stand out.

Spiranac explained that before transitioning to golf, she was a competitive gymnast, and her wardrobe primarily consisted of athletic wear, such as leggings and tank tops. When she first started playing golf, she didn't have the resources to purchase a traditional golf wardrobe, which is often expensive and comes with strict dress codes. Instead, she adapted by wearing what she already had, which included casual athletic outfits. She learned to play the sport on public courses where the atmosphere was more relaxed, and the dress codes were not as rigid as those seen at private country clubs.
This experience shaped her perspective on golf fashion and the sport’s often rigid expectations. Spiranac discussed how the formal culture of golf can be intimidating for newcomers, particularly regarding attire. She emphasized that many people feel unwelcome in the golf community because they fear not adhering to the traditional dress code or upsetting the established norms at high-end country clubs. In contrast, public golf courses tend to be more inclusive, and it is not uncommon to see golfers in casual clothes, such as cut-off jeans or tank tops, much like Spiranac's early days on the course.
Spiranac’s message to aspiring golfers is clear: respect for the game doesn't have to revolve around what you're wearing. You can still honor the tradition of the sport without conforming to the conventional dress standards. Her story resonates with many people who might feel hesitant to try golf due to its elitist image.
Recently, Spiranac participated in the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic, a tournament featuring some of the top golf content creators. While her performance didn’t land her in the final round, her influence on the sport continues to grow as she advocates for making golf more approachable and less about appearance.
By sharing her journey, Spiranac encourages others to break down the barriers that prevent them from enjoying the sport, reminding everyone that golf should be accessible and fun, no matter what you’re wearing.
