Rory Hutchinson Ready for New Season After Injury Setbacks
As the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership season approaches, Northampton Saints are gearing up for a fresh start. The team is eagerly anticipating their season opener, especially with key players like Rory Hutchinson back from injury. Hutchinson, who plays as a centre for the Saints, is determined to make a significant impact this season after a challenging period.
Reflecting on the past season, Hutchinson acknowledges that it was a rollercoaster. Despite making a strong start, an unfortunate ankle injury at Leicester saw him sidelined for a while. "For me personally, I think it was a bit up and down," Hutchinson shared. "I had a good start, but then injury setbacks with my ankle and back kept me from maintaining consistency."

Despite these challenges, Hutchinson managed to return to form and even rejoined the Six Nations squad. However, his return wasn’t without hurdles, and he missed out on the Premiership Final due to the fierce competition within the Saints' squad. Hutchinson sees this as a positive reflection of the team’s depth. “It’s always tough missing out on big games, but it shows the strength and depth of our squad,” he said.
Looking ahead, Hutchinson is excited about the new season and the opportunities it presents. “That’s done now, it’s a new season,” he said, emphasizing his eagerness to start afresh. “We’re going to have new memories and new connections. The challenge now is to see if we can replicate our success from last season.”
Hutchinson is set to feature prominently in the upcoming preseason match against Bedford Blues at Franklin’s Gardens. He will be teaming up with fellow internationals Fraser Dingwall, George Furbank, and Ollie Sleightholme. This match is crucial as it will set the tone for their domestic campaign, which kicks off against Bath—a rematch of last year's final.
Saints supporters are hopeful that Hutchinson’s return to form will bolster the team’s chances of securing back-to-back domestic titles. As the team wraps up their preparations, the focus is firmly on hitting the ground running and making the most of the season ahead. With a refreshed squad and renewed determination, Northampton Saints are ready to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
