Tragedy in Oldbury: Two Teens Charged with Murder of 13-Year-Old Jahziah Coke
In a heartbreaking incident that has shaken the community of Oldbury, West Midlands, two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of 13-year-old Jahziah Coke. The tragedy unfolded on Lovett Avenue, where Jahziah was fatally stabbed inside his home on Thursday, August 29th, 2024. Despite the best efforts of West Midlands Ambulance Service, who rushed to the scene and administered treatment, Jahziah tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The two teenage suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed due to legal reasons, were apprehended on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. Alongside them, a man in his 40s has been charged with assisting an offender. All three individuals are currently being held in police custody and are scheduled to appear before the Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Jahziah’s untimely death has left his family and community in deep mourning. His mother, in a poignant tribute, described her son as a "polite, kind, and family-oriented young man" who was "very loving and always smiling." She shared how Jahziah’s smile could light up any room, a testament to the joy and warmth he brought to those around him.
The investigation into Jahziah’s death is ongoing, with West Midlands Police continuing to appeal for information that could aid in their inquiries. They have urged anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell, dashcam, or phone footage to come forward. Chief Superintendent Kim Madill expressed her sorrow over the incident, acknowledging the profound impact it has had on the local community. She also commended the officers and paramedics who responded to the scene, despite their efforts being in vain.
As the legal process unfolds, the community of Oldbury remains in shock, grappling with the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
