$6 Million Boost for Budgewoi's Transport Network
In an exciting development for the Budgewoi community, the NSW government has announced a significant investment of $6 million aimed at enhancing the local transport network, particularly along Scenic Drive. This initiative is set to benefit over 16,000 daily users, including motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and bus passengers, by improving safety and accessibility along the busy corridor between Wills Road and Ourringo Street.
This funding is part of the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to creating a more efficient and safer transport environment in the region. Key aspects of the project include crucial safety enhancements at intersections along Scenic Drive. These improvements will facilitate easier access to popular local destinations such as Halekulani Oval, the skate park, and Budgewoi West Village.
Among the proposed enhancements are several innovative solutions designed to improve accessibility and safety. Notably, the plans involve upgrading bus stop facilities to ensure they are more user-friendly, adding pedestrian refuges along the corridor, and enhancing the existing active transport infrastructure around Budgewoi Bridge. Moreover, the project aims to adjust the car park entry for Budgewoi West Village at the Noela Place intersection, implement traffic calming measures at the Alawai Avenue intersection, and replace the current pedestrian refuge adjacent to Budgewoi West Village with a signalised pedestrian crossing.

This engagement process includes an online survey available at Have Your Say , as well as options to submit feedback via email or traditional mail. The feedback period will close on November 13, and Transport for NSW plans to share the final improvement plans with the community in 2025.
Both David Harris, the Minister for the Central Coast, and Jenny Aitchison, the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, emphasized the importance of community input in shaping these upgrades. Harris expressed his vision of a vibrant centre for Budgewoi with a high-quality transport network that enhances the local street environment. He stated that resident feedback would play a pivotal role in finalizing the plans, ensuring they effectively serve the community's needs.
Yasmin Catley, the Member for Swansea, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the longstanding advocacy for changes to the Budgewoi transport network. She stressed the need for accessible community facilities, noting that locals have a unique understanding of their community's requirements. Catley urged residents to share their thoughts, affirming that their input is crucial for developing a transport network that genuinely serves the Budgewoi area.
With these transformative upgrades on the horizon, the Budgewoi community is poised for a significant improvement in its transport network, making it not only safer but also more accessible for everyone. The collaborative effort between local residents and the government is a promising step towards achieving a modern and efficient transport infrastructure in Budgewoi.
