Commanders QB Jayden Daniels Exits Panthers Game with Rib Injury, Ruled Out Early
In a tough moment for Washington Commanders fans, quarterback Jayden Daniels left Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers early due to a rib injury. It all unfolded in the first quarter when Daniels took some hard hits while running the ball on the Commanders' opening drive, which set up a field goal. The defense had already put Washington up 7-0 with a pick-six, and Daniels’ effort extended the lead to 10-0. However, it was clear something was wrong when Daniels, visibly in pain, grabbed at his ribs while getting up after a tackle.
Daniels initially stayed on the sidelines and tried to test his arm by throwing, but the pain was too much. He soon headed to the locker room, throwing his helmet to the ground in frustration. His day was over shortly after, as the Commanders officially ruled him out of the game just after halftime. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his condition, Daniels' mother offered a promising update on social media, assuring fans that he was "fine." He was later seen on the sidelines in street clothes, waving to the crowd, confirming that his return was not in the cards for that afternoon.

Before his early exit, Daniels completed both of his pass attempts for six yards and ran the ball three times for an impressive 50 yards. His performance this season has been nothing short of stellar, coming off a standout Heisman-winning campaign at LSU. Daniels has been leading the Commanders to a solid 4-2 start, with over 1,400 passing yards and six touchdowns under his belt before this matchup.
As for the game, Marcus Mariota stepped in as backup but struggled initially, going three-and-out on his first drive. However, the Commanders leaned heavily on their running game, and a solid 59-yard drive led to a touchdown, helping extend their lead.
With Daniels out, the Commanders’ hopes rest on his quick recovery. Fans will be keeping a close eye on any updates as they look forward to his return to the field, where he has already made an undeniable impact in his rookie season.
