Hanwha Life Esports Triumphs Over FlyQuest in Intense LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage
The League of Legends World Championship 2024 has delivered another thrilling encounter as Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) took on FlyQuest (FLY) in the Swiss stage of the tournament. Both teams came into this pivotal match with two wins and one loss, knowing that a victory would secure their spot in the Knockout Stage. For FlyQuest, a North American team, defeating a Korean giant like HLE would be a historic achievement. However, after a hard-fought battle, HLE emerged victorious with a 2-1 series win, securing their place in the quarterfinals.
FlyQuest entered the series with a bold strategy, picking unusual champions in an attempt to throw off their opponents. Their selection of Urgot for the top lane and Amumu as a jungler in Game 1 raised eyebrows, but this gamble allowed them to hold their own in team fights. Despite this unconventional approach, HLE’s experience and composure ultimately saw them take Game 1 after a decisive fight, where FlyQuest’s hopes crumbled with one key kill. HLE didn’t even need to secure Baron to finish the game, as they wiped out FlyQuest’s champions and closed out the first match.

In Game 2, FlyQuest responded brilliantly, adapting their strategy and making key plays that kept HLE on the back foot. They banned some of HLE’s crucial picks and brought out Nunu & Willump, which, combined with strong team fight coordination, allowed them to steal objectives and push HLE’s base. After securing Baron and multiple dragons, FlyQuest stormed through HLE’s defenses, claiming a well-deserved win to force a decisive Game 3.
With everything on the line, HLE took no chances in Game 3. They adjusted their draft, banning FlyQuest’s surprise picks and securing control of key champions like Kai'Sa. From the early game, HLE dominated the map, building a gold lead and winning critical fights. FlyQuest tried to mount a defense around their base, but a clutch play from HLE’s jungler, Peanut, shattered their hopes. HLE claimed both the Baron and Soul buffs, eventually marching into FlyQuest’s base to claim the final victory.
This match was a testament to the resilience of both teams. FlyQuest fought valiantly, pushing HLE to their limits, but in the end, the Korean team’s experience and ability to adapt won the day. FlyQuest will now face a decider match on October 13 to keep their Worlds 2024 dreams alive. Meanwhile, Hanwha Life Esports moves on to the quarterfinals, continuing their quest for the championship title. As we head deeper into the tournament, all eyes are on the knockout rounds, where the stakes will be even higher.
