James Bay Collaborates with US Superstar and Reflects on Vulnerability in New Music
James Bay, the British singer-songwriter renowned for his soulful and raw music, has just revealed some exciting news about his upcoming projects. While working on his highly anticipated fourth album, Bay has been collaborating with some big names, including US superstar Brandon Flowers from The Killers. Reflecting on the collaboration, Bay shared how surreal it felt to be in the studio with Flowers, saying, “I tried to keep my cool and not think, ‘I’m making a song with Brandon Flowers.’ It was unbelievable.” This partnership began when Flowers mentioned that Bay's hit single Hold Back The River had left a lasting impression on him, leading to the chance to work together.
The collaboration took place in a unique setting—Flowers’ rented ski lodge in Utah, where The Killers had turned the space into a recording studio. The energy was electric as they worked on the single Easy Distraction . Bay recalls the moment he first played the track for Flowers, adding, “People could hear a bit of Killers in it because of Brandon’s writing input, but I’m proud that the original idea came from a melody I brought in.” The whole process was informal yet prolific, and Bay expressed his gratitude for the chance to create music with such a legend.
