Major Incident at Dorset Care Home Leaves Two Hospitalized

According to a spokesperson from the South Western Ambulance Service, they received the first call regarding the situation around 5:20 a.m. A comprehensive response was initiated, deploying a Hazardous Area Response Team alongside ten double-crewed ambulances and additional resources to assist in the unfolding crisis. Two patients were subsequently transported to Poole Hospital for treatment.
Residents living nearby were alarmed by the heavy presence of emergency services and reported seeing residents being evacuated from the Gainsborough Care Home. One local resident recounted seeing patients being transported in wheelchairs, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. He estimated that emergency vehicles began arriving around 7 a.m., with evacuation efforts becoming visible by 8:30 a.m.
Katie Lobban, a spokesperson for the gas network company SGN, confirmed their involvement in the emergency response, stating, "We were called to Gainsborough Care Home earlier today in our capacity as the National Gas Emergency Service for the south of England. Our engineers are waiting for access to the building to complete safety checks." The situation is being described as tragic, and Lobban extended thoughts to all those affected by the incident.
Local residents have expressed their shock at the developments, with one stating, "It's very sad what has happened here and shocking. I've never seen anything like it.
