T1 Dominates G2 to Reach Knockouts, BLG Defeats PSG Talon at Worlds 2024
The excitement at the 2024 League of Legends World Championship continues to rise, and Day 7 of the Swiss Stage did not disappoint. Fans witnessed some of the most thrilling matchups yet, with teams fighting tooth and nail to secure their place in the Knockout Stage or face elimination. T1 delivered an impressive 2-0 sweep over G2 Esports, advancing to the quarterfinals, while Bilibili Gaming (BLG) kept their Worlds run alive with a commanding victory over PSG Talon.
In the T1 versus G2 series, the first game saw both teams come in with strong drafts. G2 Esports chose a powerful Jax-Nocturne-Orianna combo for the top, jungle, and mid lanes, while Hans Sama opted for Draven, a signature pick for him in the bot lane. T1, however, played to their strengths, with Choi "Zeus" Woo-je on Gragas, Moon "Oner" Hyeon-joon on Skarner, and the iconic Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok on Ahri, a champion he’s renowned for. From the outset, T1 played with surgical precision, exploiting every mistake G2 made. Despite G2’s efforts to keep pace, T1 controlled the game. A 28-minute siege ended with T1 taking the first game with a 21-9 kill lead, setting the tone for the series.

Game two saw G2 attempt to regroup by switching up their draft, bringing in Gnar for the top lane and Kai’Sa for Hans Sama in the bot lane. T1, meanwhile, introduced Jax for Zeus and Vi for Oner. G2 found several strong moments, particularly through Rasmus "Caps" Winther’s Orianna, whose Shockwaves created game-changing plays. Yet, T1’s resilience shone through. Zeus’s Jax was a game-changer, winning pivotal fights, and a clutch Baron steal from Oner turned the tides in T1’s favor. After a hard-fought 41 minutes, T1 sealed their second victory with a 23-17 kill advantage, securing their quarterfinal spot.
On the other side of the bracket, Bilibili Gaming (BLG) faced off against PSG Talon, and it was another intense 2-0 series. The first game saw PSG Talon take an early lead, dominating in kills and gold. However, BLG clawed their way back, with Chen "Bin" Ze-bin’s Jax and Zhang "Elk" Ya-Lun’s Misfortune making key plays that turned the game around. After 35 minutes of back-and-forth action, BLG destroyed PSG’s Nexus with a 22-16 kill advantage.
In the second game, BLG dominated from the start. Bin, once again on Jax, proved unstoppable, while Elk’s Kai’Sa dealt consistent damage throughout. PSG Talon, despite their best efforts to regroup, couldn’t match BLG’s relentless pressure. After just 28 minutes, BLG completed the 2-0 sweep, knocking PSG Talon out of the tournament and ending their Worlds 2024 journey.
With these results, T1 is now headed to Paris for the Knockout Stage, while G2 Esports and BLG must win their next matchups to secure a quarterfinal berth. For PSG Talon, their run ends here, placing them in 12-14th position, earning $67,500 as they exit the competition. As the tournament heats up, every remaining game is critical, and fans are in for even more exciting action as the world’s top teams continue their battle for the Summoner’s Cup.
