Texas Edges Out Vanderbilt in Thrilling 27-24 Showdown
In a closely contested match on October 26, the Texas Longhorns defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 27-24, marking the end of Vanderbilt's impressive three-game winning streak. This loss, however, doesn't entirely crush Vanderbilt's hopes for a bowl game, as they still hold a commendable 5-3 record, including a solid 2-2 in SEC play. The Commodores had garnered significant attention earlier in the season after a stunning victory over Alabama, but the defeat against Texas has likely extinguished their chances for a Playoff bid.
The game kicked off with Vanderbilt striking first, as quarterback Diego Pavia showcased his agility with an 18-yard touchdown run, giving the Commodores an early 7-0 lead. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers had an impressive outing, throwing for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, demonstrating both skill and resilience against a determined Vanderbilt defense. In contrast, Pavia's stat line included 143 passing yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, showcasing both his potential and the challenges he faced against Texas’s defense.
