Universal Orlando Announces Epic Universe Opening for May 2025
Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced that its highly anticipated new theme park, Epic Universe, will open its doors on May 22, 2025, just ahead of Memorial Day weekend. This new addition will make it the largest of the three theme parks at the Universal Orlando Resort, part of a 750-acre development that significantly expands the resort's footprint. Epic Universe is set to include five immersive "worlds," each offering unique attractions and experiences: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic , Super Nintendo World , How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk , Dark Universe , and Celestial Park , which will serve as the park’s central hub.
The theme park has been described as a "transformative experience," with Universal Orlando President Karen Irwin expressing excitement about the upcoming opening. "With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience," she said. The combination of thrilling attractions, themed dining, and live entertainment will ensure that guests have an immersive, week-long adventure that lives up to the park’s "epic" name.

Industry experts have high expectations for Epic Universe. Dennis Speigel, a leading consultant in theme parks, anticipates the new park will attract more than 6 million visitors in its first year. He believes the park's fresh themes and attractions, which speak to a new generation of visitors, will elevate Universal’s standing in Orlando’s competitive theme park market, challenging even Disney, which hasn’t opened a new park in Central Florida since 1998.
Epic Universe will introduce some innovative features, including the highly anticipated Super Nintendo World , which has already been a hit in Japan and California. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in attractions like “Bowser’s Challenge” and “Mine-Cart Madness with Donkey Kong.” Fans of the Harry Potter universe will be thrilled with the Ministry of Magic , where visitors can experience a new attraction, Battle at the Ministry , placing them right in the middle of a magical conflict. Other areas like How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk and Dark Universe , centered on classic monsters, further enhance the park’s appeal.
Tickets for Epic Universe will be available in phases. Starting October 22, 2024, multi-day vacation packages and three-day tickets to Universal Orlando Resort, including access to Epic Universe, will be sold. Single-day tickets for the general public will be released later, with annual passholders getting priority. Additionally, Universal will open the Helios Grand Hotel on the same day as the park. This 500-room luxury hotel, located inside Celestial Park , will offer exclusive park access for its guests, ensuring an unparalleled level of convenience.
