Ant McPartlin, co-host of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! , recently weighed in on the heated argument that erupted between Coronation Street star Alan Halsall and BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough. The row, which unfolded in the latest episode of the reality show, has sparked a mix of opinions from both viewers and co-stars alike. McPartlin, known for his candid commentary, didn’t hold back as he shared his thoughts on the incident in an Instagram Live with his co-host Declan Donnelly.
The drama began when Dean, who had been napping, was woken by Alan. Alan needed help with a task, specifically to collect firewood with Loose Women’s Jane Moore. However, Dean, still groggy, didn’t immediately respond. In an attempt to rouse him, Alan asked, “You don’t fancy it? No?” before heading off to assist Jane alone. This interaction ignited a backlash from Dean, who, after eventually getting up, confronted Alan. “Listen to me,” Dean said. “If you’re going to wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright?” He was clearly frustrated, adding that Alan didn’t need to walk away with such a dismissive tone.

Ant, commenting on the spat, noted that while Alan seemed to remain calm, there was an undercurrent of passive-aggressive behavior. He suggested that Alan could have handled the situation better, but still defended his approach compared to Dean’s reaction. “What would you have done, would you have kicked off?” Ant asked Dec, before adding that if it had been him, he wouldn’t have stood for it. He called Alan’s response “a little bit passive-aggressive” but also understood Dean’s frustration. Ant’s remarks were candid, and he didn’t mince words, saying he would have been more direct in shutting down any attitude.
The conflict wasn’t just about waking up from a nap, though. The tension between the two campmates also seemed to reflect their differing attitudes toward camp responsibilities. While Dean was quick to criticize Alan’s request, he was seen later in the episode doing something very similar—deliberately waking up Tulisa by singing loudly, despite her request for no early musical performances.
