Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson Receives Tremendous Support Amid Health Update
Simon Gregson, cherished for his long-standing portrayal of Steve McDonald on Coronation Street , recently shared a health update that drew an outpouring of support from fans and co-stars. Known for his humor and resilient on-screen presence, Gregson opened up about his struggle during the renowned Sotheby’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, an event showcasing vintage cars in an iconic route. Unfortunately, his journey took an unexpected turn due to both mechanical issues and illness.
On November 4, the 50-year-old actor posted to Instagram, describing his car’s breakdown halfway through the race. Although he attempted to continue the trip by switching to another car, Gregson eventually had to step back, admitting he was dealing with “man flu” and couldn’t make it to Brighton. Sharing an update from a hotel room, Gregson humorously confessed, “Car didn’t make it, which is fortuitous because neither have I… I thought I could make it, I couldn’t.” His lighthearted attitude resonated with fans, who flooded the comments with messages of encouragement, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Mulvaney sent a heartfelt message along with a love emoji, while Sweeney chimed in, wishing him well and expressing disappointment at the setback. Fans added their own warmth, with comments like “Get well soon there, Simon!” and “Hope you feel better quickly!”
Gregson’s on-screen character, Steve McDonald, has been a part of Coronation Street since 1989 and remains central to many recent plot twists. With a potential new romance storyline brewing with Cassandra Plummer, viewers are eager to see what unfolds next for Steve, even as Gregson takes time to recover off-screen. Outside of acting, Simon enjoys family life with his wife, Emma Gleave, a former Hollyoaks actress who now runs a tea room in Cheshire, a venture Gregson proudly celebrated on social media.
