Disney's Jodi Benson Reveals Surprising Role as Metal Gear Solid's Eva

For years, fans of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater have speculated about the identity of Eva, one of the game’s most iconic characters. Her voice, alluring and powerful, was credited to "Suzetta Miñet," a mysterious name that seemed to be a pseudonym. Fans of the game were quick to notice the resemblance to Jodi Benson, the voice of Disney's beloved Ariel from The Little Mermaid . Yet, despite the widespread fan theory, the truth remained a mystery—until now.

In a major reveal made public just recently as part of Konami's Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series, Jodi Benson herself confirmed that she was the voice behind Eva all along. Benson, who is known for her wholesome and family-friendly roles, had hidden her identity for a reason: the stark contrast between Eva’s seductive, complex character and the youthful innocence of Ariel. When recording her lines for MGS3 , Benson had to step far away from her usual Disney persona.

According to Benson, the decision to use an alias was made with the help of voice director Kris Zimmerman Salter. During the recording process, Salter noticed the potential complications of having a well-known voice like Benson’s associated with a character as bold and mature as Eva. Salter asked Benson about her childhood dog’s name, and the actress revealed it was Suzette Monet. Inspired by this, Salter suggested the pseudonym "Suzetta Miñet," a name that would remain secret for years.

Benson went on to share an interesting tidbit from her experiences recording Eva’s scenes. As she and David Hayter, the voice of Naked Snake, recorded their lines separately, they were instructed to create a sense of intimacy despite never performing together in the same room. For their famous kissing scenes, Benson and Hayter would mimic the motions by pressing their lips against their own hands, giving fans a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process.

For over two decades, fans speculated and pieced together clues about Eva’s voice, and while many guessed correctly, it wasn’t until now that the secret was finally confirmed. This reveal coincides with the release of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake, which promises to retain the original voice work, including the iconic romantic exchanges between Eva and Snake.

Benson’s revelation comes as part of Konami’s promotional effort for the highly anticipated remake, scheduled for release in 2025. Fans are eager to revisit this classic in a new format, and now they can do so with the knowledge that Eva’s voice was always one of Disney’s most famous stars.
