The recall, initiated by Wolverine Packing Co., follows a troubling outbreak that has already resulted in one death and 15 hospitalizations across 18 states. The contamination was detected after cases were reported in Minnesota, with illnesses linked to ground beef consumption occurring between November 2 and November 10 .

The products affected include fresh beef labeled with a use-by date of November 14 and frozen items produced on October 22 . They are marked with the establishment number EST. 2574B on the USDA inspection label. While the products were distributed to restaurants nationwide, the concern remains that some of the recalled beef might still be in refrigerators or freezers. Authorities are urging all establishments to discard or return these items immediately and strictly avoid their consumption.

E. coli O157 is a particularly virulent strain of bacteria. Symptoms typically manifest three to four days after exposure and may include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever . While most individuals recover within a week, some cases can lead to more severe health issues, such as kidney damage requiring hospitalization.
