The University of North Carolina (UNC) field hockey team is making waves yet again as they step into the 2024 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Final Four. Held at the iconic Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this year’s championship promises intense competition and thrilling matchups. UNC, the tournament’s top seed, faces No. 4 Saint Joseph’s in a highly anticipated semifinal clash on November 22, 2024.

UNC's dominance in collegiate field hockey is nothing short of legendary. Over the past six years, the Tar Heels have captured five national titles, including back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023. Led by a stellar team featuring Abigail Taylor, who boasts 12 shutouts and a nation-leading goals-against average of 0.44, UNC has proved unstoppable this season with a perfect 20-0 record. They’ve already defeated Delaware (4-0) and Duke (3-0) to secure their 15th Final Four appearance in 16 years.

Meanwhile, Saint Joseph’s, making their first-ever Final Four appearance, is ready to prove themselves against a powerhouse like UNC. The Hawks, with a 19-3 record, have shown grit and determination, edging out Lafayette and Princeton in narrow 1-0 victories. Their star player, Lily Santi, has been a key contributor with 14 goals and 12 assists this season.

The stakes are high as the winners of this semifinal will face the victor of the other thrilling matchup between No. 2 Northwestern and unseeded Massachusetts. Both teams bring their own compelling stories—Northwestern with a powerful 21-1 record and UMass making their first Final Four since 1992.

For fans unable to attend in person, ESPN+ will provide live coverage of the semifinals and championship game. As the Tar Heels chase yet another title, all eyes are on Ann Arbor to witness whether UNC’s historic dominance continues or if a new champion will emerge to claim the crown.

Tune in to experience the excitement and drama of collegiate field hockey at its finest!
