Developed by Team Asobi, this vibrant and charming PlayStation platformer triumphed over formidable competitors, including Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth , Black Myth: Wukong , Metaphor: ReFantazio , Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree , and indie darling Balatro . The game also snagged three additional awards: Best Family Game, Best Action/Adventure, and Best Game Direction, solidifying its place as a standout title of the year.
Accepting the trophy, Nicolas Doucet, head of Team Asobi, graciously acknowledged industry peers, even offering a nod to rival Nintendo. The victory for Astro Bot not only celebrates the legacy of PlayStation's iconic characters but also underscores the enduring appeal of innovative platforming games.

The night saw indie sensation Balatro making waves, picking up three awards, including Best Mobile Game, while the RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio matched that tally. Black Myth: Wukong , inspired by Chinese folklore, captivated fans and earned the Player’s Voice Award through public voting. On the other hand, despite leading with seven nominations, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth only managed to secure the Best Music trophy, leaving fans slightly disappointed.
The show wasn’t just about accolades. It featured jaw-dropping reveals, including Naughty Dog’s new sci-fi adventure, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet , and the announcement of The Witcher 4 , starring Ciri.
