Broncos Secure Dramatic Win Over Browns, Spoil Career Nights for Winston and Jeudy
The Denver Broncos pulled off a thrilling 41-32 victory over the Cleveland Browns, thanks to a game-sealing pick-6 by Ja'Quan McMillian with just 1:48 left on the clock. This dramatic finish spoiled what were career-best performances by both Jameis Winston and former Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Winston, who was making waves all night, threw for an incredible 497 yards and four touchdowns, setting a franchise record for passing yards. However, his performance was marred by two costly interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns by the Broncos. The most crucial of these was McMillian’s 46-yard interception return, which sealed the win for Denver. The Broncos capitalized on Winston's mistakes, accumulating 171 yards off three interceptions. Despite his impressive passing numbers, Winston couldn’t escape the shadow of his mistakes. Reflecting on his performance, he admitted, "It was my fault. I’ve got to play better." Winston's struggles with turnovers are reminiscent of his 2019 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he led the league in passing yards but also threw a league-high 30 interceptions.

On the other side of the field, Jeudy had a night to remember as well. The wide receiver, who was traded to the Browns earlier this year after a tumultuous stint with Denver, had a career-high 235 yards and a touchdown. His performance included a spectacular 70-yard touchdown reception, marking the most yards ever gained by a receiver against his former team in NFL history. Despite the boos from Denver fans every time he touched the ball, Jeudy embraced the challenge, saying, "They only boo you when they know there’s something great in you."
The game was a rollercoaster from start to finish. Denver had relied on its running game early, with Javonte Williams and Michael Burton scoring short touchdowns. The Browns fought back, with Jeudy and tight end David Njoku catching touchdown passes from Winston. But in the closing minutes, the Broncos defense stepped up, with McMillian’s interception returning the game in their favor.
Both teams had their share of spectacular plays. The Broncos quarterback Bo Nix threw a 93-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Mims Jr. from his own end zone, a highlight-reel moment that had the crowd roaring. Nix, despite two interceptions of his own, managed to stay calm and lead his team when it mattered most. His performance, combined with key defensive plays, helped the Broncos improve to 8-5 on the season, keeping them in playoff contention.
The win was especially significant as it gave the Broncos a much-needed victory heading into their bye week. Denver now sits in the seventh and final playoff spot in the AFC with a 76% chance of making the postseason. This marks a possible return to the playoffs for the first time since their Super Bowl win following the 2015 season. Head coach Sean Payton acknowledged the team's resilience, saying, "It wasn’t perfect, by any means, but we were able to finish. Big plays — the game was full of them."
For the Browns, Winston’s explosive performance wasn’t enough to overcome the turnovers. Despite Jeudy’s heroics, Cleveland’s playoff hopes are fading, with a 3-9 record and a difficult road ahead.
