Dean McCullough, the Northern Ireland DJ, is the latest celebrity to be evicted from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! , marking the second departure of the season. In a Sunday night episode, hosts Ant and Dec revealed that the public voted to send him home, leaving Dean and retired boxer Barry McGuigan in the elimination vote. While it was a bittersweet moment, Dean expressed that he was content with his experience in the jungle. Speaking to ITV's Good Morning Britain the following morning, he explained, "I did it for my mum to make her proud," reflecting on the meaningful nature of his journey.
Throughout his time in the camp, Dean was a bundle of energy. Known for his infectious personality and love of singing, he quickly became a favorite among his fellow campmates. He proved to be a valuable asset to the team, collecting 33 stars during the Bushtucker trials. Dean didn’t just survive the challenges – he embraced them. His resilience shone through after facing a series of difficult trials, including one infamous challenge that left him covered in fish guts. Dean humorously recalled the "Absolute Carnage" trial, where he had to rummage through barrels of fish guts. Although the experience was messy, it was one of the moments that shaped his time in the jungle.
The trials weren't without their challenges, though. On one occasion, Dean found himself at odds with Ant and Dec after he called out, "I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" mid-challenge, which led to a "proper telling off" from the presenters. Speaking later about the incident, Dean admitted that Ant’s tough love pushed him to step up and try harder in the trials. He embraced the advice and managed to redeem himself, even winning 10 out of 12 stars in his final solo trial.
While fans speculated about tensions in the camp, Dean remained positive about his experience, noting that he got along well with everyone. He fondly recalled his favorite memories, like dancing around the campfire in a gold dress with his campmates, especially Danny from McFly. Even though Dean was eliminated, he made it clear that he was proud of his time in the jungle and cherished the friendships he made along the way.
After his exit, Dean shared that his first priority was to enjoy some home comforts. He joked about getting a "skin fade" and indulging in a bacon sandwich with brown sauce – a simple yet satisfying treat. But beyond the food and haircuts, it was clear that Dean valued the people he met on the show, and he would miss the camaraderie of the camp.
As the jungle adventure continues, McFly's Danny Jones remains a favorite to win, but Dean’s departure has left fans reminiscing about his joyful energy. For now, Dean is back to the comforts of home, but his time in the jungle will no doubt stay with him forever.
