Denise Van Outen Opens Up About Her Wild Summer and Single Life
Denise Van Outen has been living it up in the most carefree way imaginable after her split from property developer Jimmy Barba in late 2023. The 50-year-old Celebrity Gogglebox star admitted that the summer of 2024 was the most "hedonistic" she’d experienced since the 90s, and she had a blast doing it. From partying in Ibiza, sipping rosé wine, to engaging in flirty chats with a Hollywood A-lister on the exclusive dating app Raya, Denise certainly wasn’t holding back.
While Denise has no regrets about enjoying herself, she is also keen to acknowledge that her dating life has been more than just fun. The mum of one, who shares a daughter named Betsy with her ex-husband, Lee Mead, confessed that she’s had a fair share of adventures in the world of dating. One of the highlights was swapping messages with a "massive Hollywood star" she met on Raya. While she didn’t name the star, Denise shared that they exchanged a few words, though she didn’t expect the romance to go anywhere due to the long distance. "I don’t live in LA, so I thought, he’s not going to come to Chelmsford," she quipped. Even though Denise is thoroughly enjoying herself, she emphasized that she’s not in the market for a serious relationship right now. She’s been burned in the past and has no intention of rushing into another long-term commitment.

Despite her carefree dating life, Denise still hears from her coupled-up friends, who aren't exactly thrilled with their own relationships. Many of them have confided in her about the struggles of long-term love, including lack of intimacy and constant arguing. "My friends in these long-term relationships are all moaning to me," she revealed. "They say they don't have sex and argue all the time." It’s clear that Denise isn’t in a rush to follow the same path. Instead, she’s focused on enjoying life, spending time with her family, and enjoying her career.
Her daughter Betsy, now a teenager, is growing up fast, and Denise is adjusting to the changing dynamics of parenting a young adult. Denise describes it as "tricky," especially as she’s often busy with work, but she also notes that it's gotten easier as Betsy has grown older and started spending more time with friends.
On the career front, Denise has some exciting projects in the works, including some new shows with Channel 4. While she’s keeping the details under wraps, she’s optimistic about what’s ahead.
