One significant setback came from her expansion efforts at Promenades St-Bruno, which turned out to be more costly than anticipated. To make matters worse, she revealed being defrauded by someone who charged her a staggering $17,000 for ineffective website development. These unexpected expenses, compounded by delivery issues with Postes Canada and rising costs, have placed her business in a precarious position. In response to soaring shipping fees from a new courier, her team even offered customers the option to pick up their products directly from the main office.
In her own words, Maïka admitted, “I’m trying to keep my head above water because I genuinely love the products I create, and so do my customers. I hope 2025 will be a better year for us.” While acknowledging the tough financial year, she remained hopeful, emphasizing her passion for her business and its potential.
Beyond her entrepreneurial journey, 2024 has brought personal challenges for Maïka as well. Her son recently faced a health scare that required hospitalization, adding emotional weight to an already difficult year.
