
Marion Local Dominates Hillsdale in OHSAA Division VII State Championship
The 2024 Ohio high school football playoffs have delivered yet another thrilling season, with Marion Local continuing its dominance. On Friday morning, the Flyers emerged as the Division VII state champions, asserting their unmatched strength with a 60-0 victory over Hillsdale at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. The Marion Local Flyers, who entered the game undefeated at 15-0, put on a show of offensive and defensive brilliance, leaving Hillsdale, with a 14-1 record, in the dust. This victory adds another title to their remarkable history of success in Ohio high school football.
From the very first quarter, Marion Local established their superiority. With multiple touchdowns in the opening period, including a four-yard run by Parker Hess and a spectacular 37-yard touchdown pass from Justin Knouff to Victor Hoelscher, it was clear that the Flyers were in complete control. By the end of the first quarter, the score had already reached 33-0, and Hillsdale was struggling to find any rhythm.

Marion Local’s offense was relentless, with Parker Hess scoring three rushing touchdowns, and Knouff contributing with a 60-yard touchdown run and a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown by Griffin Bruns. The Flyers’ ability to capitalize on every opportunity left no room for doubt. Even when technical difficulties interrupted the live broadcast in the second quarter, the game was far from close. When the feed returned, viewers saw the Flyers firmly in command, up by a commanding 46-0, thanks to a pick-six by Bruns.
