McLean Returns to Lead Norwich City Against QPR in Championship Clash
Norwich City is set to face QPR in the Championship with an exciting lineup that sees the return of key players, including captain Kenny McLean. The Scottish midfielder is back after serving a four-match suspension, which was handed to him following an incident involving QPR's Kieran Morgan during the 3-0 defeat at Loftus Road earlier this month. McLean's return is a significant boost for Norwich as they look to secure important points in their quest for promotion.
Alongside McLean, Jose Cordoba also makes his return to the starting XI after missing Norwich's 2-1 Boxing Day win over Millwall due to a one-match ban. However, not all players are available for selection. Liverpool loanee Kaide Gordon has dropped out of the matchday squad, while Jacob Sorensen continues to miss out due to illness. Christian Fassnacht, recovering from a hamstring injury, will be sidelined for another month, and both Josh Sargent (groin) and Gabe Forsyth (knee) are targeting returns in the early part of the new year.

The Canaries' lineup for this crucial Championship clash will see a familiar face in goal, with Tim Krul replaced by Gunn. Norwich's defense will feature Fisher, Duffy, and Doyle Chrisene, with Nunez, Slimane, and McLean anchoring the midfield. Up front, Schwartau, Crnac, and Sainz will look to create chances and break down QPR's defense. The team will also have a solid bench with Long, Hanley, Barnes, Marcondes, Forson, Hernandez, and Cordoba ready to make an impact if needed.
For QPR, they will field a strong lineup with Nardi in goal and a defensive unit consisting of Dunne, Field, and Ashby. The midfield will be controlled by Chair, Smyth, and Fox, while Morgan and Paal will add width to the attack. Forward Kolli will lead the charge for the Hoops, aiming to put pressure on Norwich's backline.
This match is shaping up to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to build momentum for the remainder of the season. Norwich, with McLean back at the helm, will be hoping to take advantage of home-field advantage and claim all three points, while QPR will be keen to bounce back from recent setbacks. With several key players returning to action, the stage is set for an intense Championship battle at Carrow Road.
