As the clock strikes midnight, Melbourne will once again light up with a breathtaking fireworks display, welcoming 2025 in true festive style. Thousands of locals and visitors alike are set to gather across the city to witness one of the world's first major New Year’s celebrations, led by a fireworks spectacle visible from as far as Ferntree Gully and Frankston. Lord Mayor Nick Reece has promised a visual treat spread across six square kilometers, including dazzling rooftop displays on 27 skyscrapers.

The city’s official celebration zones—Docklands, the Shrine of Remembrance, Treasury Gardens, and Flagstaff Gardens—will host family-friendly events starting from 6 PM. With food trucks, live music, and DJs keeping the energy alive, these zones ensure everyone has a memorable night. The early evening fireworks kick off at 9:30 PM, while the grand midnight display will crown the evening’s festivities. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast live on Channel Nine, offering a front-row seat from the comfort of home.

Major train stations like Southern Cross and Flinders Street will remain operational throughout the night, ensuring seamless travel. Meanwhile, road closures in the CBD will prioritize pedestrian movement and safety, so planning ahead is essential.

Beyond the fireworks, Melbourne’s nightlife will come alive with themed parties at popular venues like Arbory Afloat and HER rooftop. For a cultural twist, the Australian Pops Orchestra will host its gala concert at Hamer Hall, featuring renowned performers like Silvie Paladino and Josh Piterman.
