Saudi Arabia Triumphs Over Iraq 3-1 in Gulf Cup Clash
In a thrilling encounter at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, Saudi Arabia secured a 3-1 victory over Iraq on December 28, 2024, in the third match of the Gulf Cup. The game began with Saudi Arabia controlling much of the possession, pressing Iraq in the early minutes. Abdullah Alhamddan, who had been a constant threat throughout the match, scored a stunning left-footed strike that put Saudi Arabia back in the lead. The Saudis weren’t finished yet, and in the 87th minute, another lethal counter-attack ended with Abdullah Alhamddan once again finding the back of the net to complete his brace and seal the victory for his team.
As the final whistle blew, Saudi Arabia emerged 3-1 victors, leaving Iraq to reflect on their missed chances. With this win, Saudi Arabia moved to the top of Group B, while Iraq’s hopes of advancing in the Gulf Cup now hinge on their final group match.
