Zak Williams Honors Robin Williams' Legacy of Kindness
Zak Williams recently shared heartfelt reflections on his late father, Robin Williams, emphasizing the profound acts of kindness that shaped his life and inspired countless others. In a candid conversation with People magazine at the 12th Annual Bring Change to Mind Revels & Revelations gala, Zak recalled how his father’s compassion and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered—even complete strangers.
Zak painted a vivid picture of Robin Williams’ selflessness, recounting childhood memories of their walks in San Francisco. “When I was a little kid,” Zak said, “we’d be walking around, and he’d stop to talk to someone on the street—a homeless person. He’d say, ‘Hey boss, what can I do for you?’” These moments, often followed by gestures like buying meals, offering money, or simply connecting with kindness, shaped Zak’s understanding of empathy. “He cared deeply about people in need, and he showed me what kindness really means,” Zak reflected.

Robin Williams, beloved worldwide for his roles in films like Mrs. Doubtfire and Patch Adams, didn’t confine his generosity to his personal interactions. Following Robin’s untimely death in 2014, Zak and his siblings Zelda and Cody committed themselves to continuing their father’s philanthropic legacy. Zak explained, “It was deeply important to him to improve the human condition—not just through laughter and self-reflection, but through tangible support for those struggling.” The family now carries this torch, working to heal and empower communities, particularly young people, in honor of Robin’s enduring passion for kindness and resilience.
