AOC Calls Out Trump, Refuses to Attend Inauguration Over Sexual Assault Allegations
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the outspoken congresswoman from New York, made it clear that she would not be attending Donald Trump's second inauguration, pulling no punches in a series of Instagram rants that gained widespread attention. Her refusal was centered on one powerful statement: "I don’t celebrate rapists." Ocasio-Cortez, known for her candid and unapologetic approach, used the platform to express her strong opposition to the incoming administration, particularly over the serious sexual assault allegations that have long surrounded Trump.
The remarks came on the eve of Trump’s inauguration, as Ocasio-Cortez responded to numerous questions about whether she would be present at the event. Addressing the inquiries head-on, she said, "All these journalists are like ‘Congresswoman, are you going to the inauguration? Congresswoman, are you going to the inauguration?’ Let me make myself clear: I don’t celebrate rapists. So no, I’m not going to the inauguration room." This bold stance directly referenced the long-standing accusations against Trump, most notably the case involving author E. Jean Carroll, who accused him of sexual assault in the 1990s. Although Trump was not found liable for rape, the case has continued to spark controversy, with the court documents outlining the distressing nature of the allegations.

In addition to her refusal to attend the inauguration, Ocasio-Cortez voiced frustration over the role of social media platforms like TikTok, which had issued a statement thanking Trump for his role in restoring access to the app after a U.S. ban was temporarily imposed. She accused TikTok of collaborating with Trump and his administration, warning that the platform was being used not just for Chinese propaganda but to push a right-wing agenda. Her frustration was palpable as she shared her concerns with followers, calling the incoming administration an "authoritarian" one, a clear reference to the worrying rise of far-right ideologies and what she sees as the looming threat of "21st-century fascism."
As Ocasio-Cortez continued her social media tirade, she didn't hold back in calling out those who might disagree with her stance, including the Libs of TikTok account, which reposted her comments. She sarcastically taunted them, writing, "Oh, are you triggered? Cry more," effectively shutting down any attempt to silence her bold remarks.
For Ocasio-Cortez, the inauguration was more than just a political event. It represented the start of an administration she believes will usher in harmful, regressive policies and further exacerbate the division within the nation. As the countdown to Trump's second term continues, Ocasio-Cortez’s refusal to attend the inauguration serves as a powerful statement against a president she believes represents values contrary to the principles she stands for. Her words serve as a rallying cry for those who feel that Trump's rise to power is a threat to American democracy and justice.
