Bradley Walsh, beloved host of ITV's hit quiz show The Chase , has recently opened up about the intense demands of his work schedule, describing himself as "virtually living" at the ITV Elstree Studios. Having helmed the show since its inception in 2009, Walsh has become a cornerstone of British television, captivating audiences with his wit and charm while managing the complexities of a high-profile career.

Now 64 years old, Walsh has overseen more than 1,000 episodes of The Chase . Alongside a team of professional quizzers—Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis—Walsh ensures every episode is engaging and entertaining. However, maintaining this standard comes with its challenges. Speaking on Laura Hamilton’s The Mile High Podcast , Walsh shared details of his intense routine, revealing that he often sleeps at the studios to accommodate the demanding filming schedule.

Walsh explained, “We make three shows a day. We started today at 9:50 and wrapped up by 4:30. After that, I had a Zoom call with teams in Japan and London.” Despite the workload, he remains pragmatic, adding, “It’s full-on, but tonight I’ll have a drink, watch a bit of TV, and enjoy a lie-in tomorrow.”

His candid reflections also touched on his early expectations for The Chase . Walsh admitted he initially thought the show would only last a couple of years. “I used to make nothing but pilot shows that never got a second chance. When The Chase started, I thought, ‘This will run two or three years, tops.’ I had no idea it would become such a phenomenon.”

In addition to The Chase , Walsh is recognized for his roles in Doctor Who and Coronation Street . Yet, it’s clear his passion for the quiz show remains strong. As The Chase celebrates 15 years on air, Walsh’s dedication and humor continue to be the driving force behind its success. Fans can catch him on the show daily at 5 p.m. on ITV.
