Borghi, who joined TNT Sports when it was still CDF, explained his decision during his final appearance on the show. “Life has its stages, and sometimes, it’s necessary to move on. We couldn’t reach an agreement on the contract, and since I have two years of accumulated vacation, I decided to leave early. It wasn’t about a fight—just business,” he shared. The former Colo Colo coach emphasized that his time at the channel had been an incredibly fulfilling chapter in his career. “I’ve never stayed in one place for six years. It’s unusual for me. There were great moments, like navigating the challenges of the social unrest and the pandemic. But now, the channel has its path, and I have mine.”
Borghi’s departure has sparked speculation about his next steps. Fans are eager to know if the 1986 World Cup champion will return to coaching, given his last stint on the sidelines ended in 2016. Interestingly, Borghi hinted at a coaching offer just a few months ago. “There’s a small offer here in Chile. It’s something to consider, but it depends on my family. My wife and daughter are hesitant, but my son is excited and wants to join me,” he disclosed.
