A recent brush fire near the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego sparked a flurry of activity, causing significant concern among residents and authorities alike. The fire, which began around noon on January 21, 2025, spread quickly along Friars Road, engulfing a four-acre stretch of land and posing a threat to nearby structures. Fire crews were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they battled the flames, which were climbing steep hills and inching closer to residential buildings.

As the fire intensified, an evacuation order was issued, impacting several neighborhoods in the surrounding area. The affected zones included parts of North of Kelly Street, Caminito Del Oeste, and other areas around Genesee Avenue. Residents were quickly evacuated from their homes, with authorities urging everyone to remain alert and follow evacuation instructions. Despite the early threat to the condominium complex located near the fire’s path, fire crews managed to contain the flames before they could cause significant damage. By 1:20 p.m., firefighters began to leave the area as the situation stabilized, though the evacuation orders remained in place until later in the afternoon.
