Get Ready for Summer! BC Parks Campsite Reservations Open Thursday
Are you already dreaming about campfires, hiking trails, and evenings under the stars? Well, mark your calendars because BC Parks is opening reservations for its campsites this Thursday at 7 a.m. sharp. This exciting news is perfect timing for those eager to secure a spot for the Victoria Day weekend, kicking off the summer camping season. With reservations available four months ahead of arrival, you can now plan your perfect outdoor getaway.
This year, BC Parks is adding more to its offerings. Sixty new reservable campsites have been introduced in three parks: Fintry Park near Kelowna, Rolley Lake near Mission, and China Beach in Juan de Fuca Park on Vancouver Island. These additional spaces ensure more campers can enjoy the beautiful provincial parks this season.

If Golden Ears Park near Maple Ridge is your go-to, you'll need to wait a bit longer. Repairs are ongoing for sections of the Golden Ears Parkway damaged by storms. However, the park’s three campgrounds are expected to open later this spring, so your favorite spot might still be an option for summer.
Out of the 10,700 campsites managed by BC Parks, about half are reservable, while the rest operate on a first-come, first-served basis. This means there’s a good mix of options for spontaneous adventurers and those who like to plan ahead.
Notably, Fintry Park’s new campsites come with upgraded amenities, including power hookups, flush toilets, potable water, and dishwashing stations. Although some campers noted the lack of shade in these new areas, BC Parks is addressing this by planting around 400 native trees and plants. While it’ll take time for the greenery to mature, the sites are already equipped to provide a comfortable camping experience.
Ready to book your adventure? Head to the BC Parks website for reservation details and park opening dates. Spots fill up quickly, so don’t miss this opportunity to create unforgettable memories in the great outdoors!
