Jaden Schwartz Shines with Hat Trick in Kraken’s 4-2 Victory Over Kings

In an impressive display of skill and determination, Jaden Schwartz led the Seattle Kraken to a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday. Schwartz’s standout performance featured a hat trick, marking a memorable night for the Kraken as they ended a three-game home losing streak and boosted their record to 20-24-3.

The game began with a bang when Schwartz scored just 28 seconds into the first period. Capitalizing on a turnover by the Kings, Kaapo Kakko swiftly found Schwartz in the high slot, where he made no mistake with a wrist shot. It was the perfect start for Seattle, setting the tone for a high-energy game. However, the Kings responded with Adrian Kempe’s power-play goal at 6:07, evening the score at 1-1.

But Schwartz wasn’t done. He put Seattle back on top 2-1 at 7:40, finishing a 4-on-2 rush with a wrist shot from the right circle, following a crucial turnover forced by Josh Mahura. The Kraken’s offensive pressure continued as Chandler Stephenson scored early in the second period to extend the lead to 3-2. Schwartz completed his hat trick late in the third with an empty-net goal at 18:50, sealing the win for the Kraken.

Seattle’s defensive efforts also played a pivotal role. Joey Daccord, who made 28 saves on the night, stood tall in the third period, especially during a crucial moment when Warren Foegele broke free on a shorthanded breakaway but was denied by Daccord’s remarkable save at the right post. The Kraken also blocked 22 shots, a testament to their collective commitment to protecting their lead.

Kaapo Kakko, who assisted on two of Schwartz's goals, extended his point streak to five games. His play has been a key factor in Seattle’s offensive success, and coach Dan Bylsma praised the chemistry between Kakko, Schwartz, and Matty Beniers. The trio has been electric, consistently creating scoring opportunities and driving the team’s offensive play.

For the Kings, it was a frustrating loss after a strong defensive start to their road trip. Despite tying the game at 2-2 late in the first period through a slap shot from Jordan Spence, Los Angeles couldn’t capitalize on their chances, especially in the third period when they pulled goalie Darcy Kuemper for an extra attacker. The Kings struggled with execution, unable to break through Seattle’s defense and finish the job.

This victory was crucial for the Kraken, who improved their home record and showed resilience after recent struggles. The win also highlighted Schwartz’s leadership, his three-goal performance providing the spark needed for Seattle to turn the tide against a tough opponent. As the Kraken prepare for their next matchup against Buffalo, they will look to carry this momentum forward, knowing that the combination of solid defense and offensive firepower will be key to their success.

The Kings, now 25-13-5, will have to regroup as they face Pittsburgh in their next game, while the Kraken hope to build on this victory as they continue their quest to improve their position in the standings.
