JK Rowling Hosts Lavish Hogmanay Party with VIP Guests, Including Daniel Craig and Ed Sheeran

As the clock struck midnight on New Year's Eve, Harry Potter author JK Rowling celebrated the arrival of 2025 in style with an exclusive star-studded Hogmanay bash at her opulent Killiechassie House in Highland Perthshire. The guest list was as dazzling as the event itself, with high-profile attendees rumored to include none other than James Bond star Daniel Craig, pop sensation Ed Sheeran, and iconic rock bands U2 and The Pretenders.

Locals in the picturesque village near Aberfeldy were treated to the sounds of booming music and the sight of luxury cars and Range Rovers pulling up to the gates of the sprawling 19th-century mansion. One resident noted that they could hear the revelry, with a steady stream of guests arriving in style. But security at the event was tight, with guards posted at the estate’s gates, one even holding an iPad which was believed to have the all-important VIP guest list. To ensure no photos were taken or details leaked, guests were reportedly asked to surrender their phones before entering the party.

Inside the estate, Rowling spared no expense. Guests were delighted to find that her lavish celebration included fairground attractions such as dodgems, a carousel, and various other rides, all set up to ensure everyone had a magical time. This funfair vibe added a special touch, turning her home into a vibrant New Year’s wonderland. The estate was also brightly illuminated with festive lights along its perimeter, creating an atmosphere of glamour and excitement.

In addition to the superstar guests, the evening’s music featured an incredible lineup. U2 and The Pretenders are said to have joined in the festivities, ringing in the new year with live performances that made this party one for the books. According to a local, “It looked absolutely amazing. No expense was spared, and everyone appeared to be having a wonderful time.”

One interesting detail, however, was that there were no fireworks at the event, possibly to avoid disturbing the nearby residents and animals. Instead, loud music filled the air, adding to the sense of celebration and joy, without causing any disturbance.

As the festivities drew to a close, staff were seen cleaning up and dismantling the equipment the following day. One resident joked that there might be some “Hagrid-sized hangovers” from the party, given the star-studded crowd and the extravagant celebration.

Rowling, who bought the grand property in 2001, has made Killiechassie House her home, where she also celebrated her wedding to Neil Murray that same year. The mansion, a mix of grandeur and security, offers a stunning view of the River Tay and features top-notch facilities, including a private swimming pool under copper domes.

Ed Sheeran, who is known to have a special connection with the region, is a frequent visitor to the Highlands and even wrote a song called Hills of Aberfeldy on his album Subtract . He and Rowling are also known for their high-profile status as some of the UK’s highest taxpayers. It’s no surprise that their New Year’s celebrations were nothing short of extraordinary.

From fairground rides to a guest list featuring A-list celebrities, JK Rowling's Hogmanay party was a truly unforgettable event, setting the bar high for New Year celebrations to come.
