Nikki Glaser Reflects on Golden Globes Hosting Regret and Next Steps
Nikki Glaser’s hosting debut at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards has certainly made waves, with many praising her ability to balance humor, wit, and the usual glitzy atmosphere of the event. Yet, in a candid chat with Howard Stern the morning after, Glaser shared a few regrets about her performance, particularly one joke that didn’t land the way she had intended. Despite her success in making the audience laugh and delivering a stellar show, the comedian admitted that she’s always striving for perfection, even in moments when things seem to go smoothly.
One of her biggest regrets revolved around a joke about Ben Affleck, which went as follows: "Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch — these are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight." While it still garnered laughs, Glaser pointed out that it wasn’t exactly how the line was written. The original phrasing was intended to say "when he orgasms," not "after," which, according to her, would have been clearer and funnier. She even joked that the difference would have made the joke “2 percent” funnier, revealing her perfectionist side.

Ford’s words seemed to reassure her, reminding her that it’s rare to get every detail exactly right in a high-pressure role like this.
Another topic that came up during the conversation was her compensation. While some past hosts, like Jerrod Carmichael, have been open about their pay — Carmichael disclosed a $500,000 paycheck for hosting in 2023 — Glaser was more discreet. However, she admitted that she made less than Carmichael but wouldn’t have minded doing it for free. She saw the platform as so valuable that she would’ve been happy without the paycheck, though she jokingly added that next time, she’d definitely ask for a bigger sum.
Despite her personal regrets, Glaser’s performance was a hit, and there’s speculation about whether she will return to host again next year. She herself seems confident about the possibility.
